California Garlic Festival Clear Bag Policy - 2024

We're back and ready to have some safe family fun! In order to speed things up upon entry, improve security and limit touch points, we've implemented a new clear bag policy. Please review the guidelines below. Together we can make the California Garlic Festival a fun and safe environment for everyone!

    • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12".

    • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).

    • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken
into the venue with one of the clear plastic bags.

    • An exception will be made for diaper bags and any medical-related bags after proper inspection.

You can purchase clear bags in various places, like Amazon. Visitors are encouraged NOT to bring any bags, but the policy has been created to balance your needs with improved public safety and convenience.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is California Garlic Festival implementing a clear bag policy for 2024?
We have decided to take further measures to ensure the safety of everyone participating in the California Garlic Festival, as well as speed up the process to get everyone through the entrance gates in a timely fashion.

Are other events limiting bags?
Yes. Many events and venues have a clear bag policy, including but not limited to NFL stadiums, concert venues and other festivals. Some venues do not permit any bags to be brought inside.

Do I have to put everything I'm carrying into the permissible bags?
No. Visitors are limited only to the type of bags carried into the festival, not items that they may normally bring to the California Garlic Festival that fit in pockets or clutch bags (e.g., keys, makeup, feminine products, comb, phone, wallet, credit cards). Visitors may carry a blanket over their arms, and personal camera around their necks or in their hands without the case. Visitors may also use the clear bag and clutch to carry these items and other permissible items. Every member of the family may carry in a permissible bag.

How many bags may each person bring into the Fairgrounds?
One large clear bag - either a one-gallon Ziploc style bag or the 12" x 6" x 12" clear bag - plus a small clutch that does not exceed 4.5" x 6.5". The small clutch allows privacy for small personal items and also is easily searched.

May visitors carry cameras, smart phones or tablets separately from what they put in a clear bag?
Yes. A phone or cameras may be carried into the festival as long as it is not in its own bag.

What about bringing a blanket?
Visitors will be able to bring blankets by tossing them over a shoulder or arm.

Can we bring in a lawn chair?
Visitors will be allowed to bring in a lawn chair without the carrying bag. All chairs are subject to search upon entry.

Are all purses prohibited?
No. ONLY Small clutch purses, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5" are permitted along with either the 12" x 6" x 12" clear tote bag or the one-gallon freezer bag.

Are pets allowed?
The Festival complies with California State provisions, which allow service dogs in all public areas. (Miniature horse trained to do work or perform tasks for persons with disabilities are no longer acceptable).

A service dog is a a dog trained to do specific tasks for a person that he or she cannot do because of a disability. Protecting someone, giving emotional support, or being a companion do not qualify a dog to be a service animal, and are not allowed on the festival grounds.

At the California Garlic Festival, Dogs in Training or Puppies in Training with appropriate identification will be allowed in all public areas with appropriate supervision providing they do not create a disturbance. One Dog in Training or Puppy in Training, per trainer will be allowed on the property. The Festival reserves the right to exclude any trainees creating a disturbance.
